hey you !
I honestly believe I went through so many financial mistakes so that I can turn around and help someone else (like yourself) with money !
My name is Jennifer and I love talking about anything related to money & personal finance. I’m your new go-to sister that shares everything she knows when it comes to financial success. I wanted someone to help me understand how to manage my money, how to organize my finances, and how to build generational wealth so I became her.
My Money Story
I accumulated over $10,000 in credit card debt (twice), took out over $3,000 in student loans (but didn’t graduate), and ruined my retirement account from over $10,000 invested in 3 years to $0. I was REALLY bad with money. let’s just say money and I were NOT friends.
However, I found myself in a toxic and controlling relationship. This resulted in me HAVING to figure out my money madness. Not being able to afford to leave was the tipping point! I was really upset with myself, why would I depend on another person to survive? How could I leave with no money?
My exact thoughts: Go back home to my parent’s house. I didn’t want to ask my parents for help. Being a single mother was hard and trying to prove to myself that I could make it was the only thing I wanted to prove. I was hard-headed, I know.
Fast forward to the present day, I along with my Fiance bought a home, I am ALMOST consumer debt-free (car & student loan left), managed to save over $10,000 in my emergency fund [edited on 7/15/2021, currently saved over $20,000 in my emergency fund], and I am creating multiple streams of income.
Getting real:
These are a few of my favorite things…
- My favorite thing to do (other than being a fiance & mom) is walking the aisles of Target, Hobby Lobby, & HomeGoods.
- I tend to say exactly what is on my mind, some people call it being blunt, I call it being genuine.
- I am Latina. Puerto Rican and proud ! Born in chicago, raised in the only 305 Miami, currently residing in the beautiful Treasure Coast of Florida.
- I love reading, museums, & learning new things. My perfect weekend is traveling to a place Ive never been, going to an epic museum, and having great food and drinks!
- I always wanted to be a teacher, I just didn’t know i’d be teaching about money ! Funny right ?
